My publisher, Warner Books, has posted an excerpt from The Untelling. It's chapter one, but it comes after a prologue which is not posted. So, it's the beginning, but not really the beginning. Think of it like the "first floor" in a building that has a basement. Anyway, you can click here to have a look!

This makes me smile, knowing that I heard it in my living room last year, after raclette and cheap rioja and looking out over the dogwoods.

Tayari, this is wonderful. Lots of small details that help me visualize the setting, the women, the house, the neighborhood, the relationships between the characters -- and this just in chapter one! I can't wait to read the whole thing.

On another note I'd like to recommend this book written by one of my reporters -- www.notageisha.com -- if you get a chance, check it out.
