Two more terrific events: Charis Books and More in Little Five Points and Decatur Pubic Library. I can't decide what I love more, indepedent book stores or public libraries!
Charis Books and More is a extrememly cool women's book store-- 30 years strong! I am always delighted to give a reading there. Linda B. is the owner and personal goddess of this core Atlanta institution. Everytime I read there, I feel like I am visitng with like-minded friends. It's great to be able to use the word FEMINISM and not have to give a disclaimer.
At the Decatur Public Library, I was the guest of the Georga Center for the Book. Bill Starr really knows how to organize an event. The crowd was large and lively and the bookseller was front, center, and prepared. So many people showed up-- people I hadn't seen for years. For example, the GATEWOODS were there. When I was a kid, they ived out in DECATUR which was a strange an exotic land. Shirley and Andy were there. When I was little Shirley used to give me my favorite scent, JEAN NATE in all it's different forms-- lotion, cologne, powder, and my favorite SPLASH!
Last, but not least, I want to make note of Aisha and the Ladies of Perusing the Pages Book Club/House of Buchanans. Thanks for all the love!
