Tayari's Blog: Report From the Road: ATL/PHX

I finished up my Atlanta readings with a Sign and Dine at Copelands restaurant, hosted by Booking Matters, an Atlanta literary event planning company. After that, I headed out to Phoenix, my former stomping ground. So, I am stomping the best I can in this heat!

The Sign and Dine in Atlanta was a delight. It's such a neat event: the guests pay $20 for thier meal and then the author does some talking. There were party games, door prizes, and of course, book signing. B'Randi from B's Books and More handled the bookselling. A fun time was had by all.. such a good time that nobody cared when we got a flat tire in the parking ramp. Oh well, we said. I guess we'll have to go back for another drink while we wait for Triple-A!

Then, it was on to Phoenix. The Glendale Public library put on a nice event. Erin from B&N was on the ready with lots of copies of both books. The belle of the ball was 4-year old Lauren. She sat quietly through my reading. I was hyper-aware of her presence and sort of cleaned up the language in chapter four. (One of my characters, Hermione, can be a little bit candid for tender ears!)

When I finished with the booksigning and Q&A, little miss Lauren said. "That was good. Now give me a hug."

I was glad to comply.
