Today is the next to the last day of my cross-country adventure. The schedule is hectic: a reading at Alexander Book Company at twelve-thirty, then on a plane to LA for a 7pm reading at Eso Wan in L.A.

Yesterday was terrific. A Clean Well Lighted Place for Books rocks.

Who was there? Just about everybody. I must give a special "welcome to the world" for Little Miss Alice Nolan. Five months old and cute as pie. She was quiet through the whole reading with the exception of a few encouraging cooing noises!

Vendela Vida was there, looking radiant and a little pregnant, as was ZZ Packer who was a bit more pregnant. I remembered that little babies (like Alice) are suppossed to be able to foretell the future for pregnant women. Unfortunately, none of us could remember exactly how that thing was supposed to work.

Ed (the) Champion came along with Scott "Conversational Reading" Esposito. It's cool to see bloggers in person. These guys are too cute to only do internet appearances. :)

Lori and Gretchen, my Spelman sisters were there too. I can happily say that I have yet to give a reading at which one of my Spelman sisters didn't show up. (See mom, all that tuition money was not spent in vain!)

Sarah Stone and husband Ron were also in attendance. They are the sort of couple that makes a person want to be in a couple. (I say this because being around an actual couple is usually the antidote for any coupling impulses by which I might be stricken!)

Eric Wilcox, super subversive performance artist brought his wonderful smile and beautiful spirit. And Lovely, Lovely Lauren Cerand.

And here is name to look out for: Amy Wilson. Trust me on this one.
