The Writing Life
I'm not back yet from the P/F gala in Washington, DC. I just love this town. I really do. The gala was just lovely. It was the sort of thing that makes you understand why they call it a "gala."
This is sort of the short version because I am at a computer kiosk being charged by the mili-second.
Here are some things I learned:
Writers interpret the term "black tie" different from other people.
Three minutes is plenty of time to really explore and explode the theme of lost and found.
The guy who looks like Richard Baush is really his twin, Robert Baush.
Too much wine isn't good for you.
Meg Wolitzer gets her terrific personality and presence from her mother, Hilma.
Stilettos, however attractive, are not your friends.
My publicist, Lauren Cerand, is terrific.
Rick Moody is the master of the disappearing act.
more info when I get home...

Tayari,
I know that you will post a more detailed account for your readers of the evening's events, but I just want to say, since you always set such a classic example of elegant modesty, that any and all of the following could be used to describe your reading (and I am quoting from memory as much as possible): STUNNING, MEMORABLE, INCREDIBLE, BRILLIANT, etc. etc. I was so pleased and proud to have been in the audience. You blew us all away.

Are those of us unable to attend the event going to get a chance to read the entry? I sure hope so. Buttercup's Mom gave me a short synopsis but you know I want to read the whole shabang(sp)!
