Note to self: No more weekday parties. I have to teach in a few hours and I am BEAT DOWN.
Thanks to everyone who came out to the paperback launch last night at Busboys and Poets. Everything was just right. The room was packed, the music was right on, and the nice folks at Busboys threw in a huge platter of double chocolate cake!
Photos will be posted soon! (Ladylee, I tried to get the photographer to take a picture of my shoes, but he balked.) But meanwhile, you'll have to take my word for it. A great time was had by all.

Oh no, Tayari! We won't get a chance to see the shoes?!?!?! And I know they were fierce!! You ALWAYS sport the FIERCEST shoes!! You could have at least kicked your feet up high enough for them to be in the photo! LOL!

Too many gimlets, hunh? Oh well... Tell your students to read quietly to themselves while you lay your head on the desk and, um, meditate... Yeah, that's the word, MEDITATE... (better than telling them that you're about to sleep it off)
Glad you had fun! I knew it would be a success! We want details, details, details!:)

Tayari - it was great meeting you in person. My guys, son and boyfriend who claims not to read was really captivated by your reading - he's even looking forward to reading the book. I posted an entry on my blog (finally an update) about the event. Its under the book and journal tab and then at the bottom in the webjournal link (whoa thats a lot). Check it out if you find yourself stomping around the internet and you know...

Oh those shoes WERE divine -- deep saffron wedge espadrilles as I recall. And Tayari literally set the place ON FIRE -- in an unrelated incident, there was a plume of smoke billowing out of the stage five minutes or so after she went to the other room to sign books for everybody! Of course.

it has taken me ten minutes to join the secrect society you have to join to post on this blog and i dont like that its called turn key either. anyway sorry i missed the reading. hope it went well. u have to come ot my spot. i had a midterm in spanish on mon. i owe you a mo.... set a date. good luck with the paperback, ill sell my half a million
