I just got this via email.. am I the last one to know that Bernice McFadden (author of Sugar and five other novels) is also Geneva Holiday author of such spicy beach reads as "Fever." Question: what's up with whole pseudonym situation? Isn't the whole point that it's suppossed to conceal your identity? Well, here is a link inviting you to hear Bernice McFannden/Geneva Holiday read at Hue Man in Harlem. Be forewarned the invite says this is grown people's business and leave the kids at home.
But anyway, if I were to write something a little bit steamier than my usual fare, I'd need a good alter ego. Any idea of a name. I am pretty tolerant, but I would prefer not to use the words Chocolate, Carmel, or any other food-related racialized descriptors. The person with the best suggestion wins a prize!
**UPDATE: I did a googlefight between Bernice McFadden and Geneva Hollliday.

There is nothing wrong with the name Carmel Moccacino, but that's just me...lol
How about Lola Diamond? It says something, I'm just no sure what that is :)

I read somewhere a few years ago that authors use pseudonyms for exploratory purposes... Just in case you write some ish that bombs and is a total embarrasment, then you can quietly tiptoe back to whatever name you were using without the shame... But if the book under the pseudonym does well, then who cares who knows your real name??
You know, whatever pen name you decide to use, you GOTTA pick something that goes well with your furry pink coat! LOL!
I tend to lean towards the one word pen names: Some good ones- Luscious, Tequila (since you are fond of throwing back those gimlets), Stormy... something like that...
as long as it goes with that coat...
Other suggestions: Rose Waters, Sasha Love, Love Jones...
Also, you could use your first pet's name and your mother's maiden name... that would be interesting... LOL!!
