I was wary about the large venue, but I shouldn't have been. You need a big space to hold all the love that NYC has for its Queen.
MJB was beautiful and utterly genuine. The crowd roared its love back to her with the best audience participation since Earth Wind and Fire. After the opening chords for "I'm Going Down" rang out, MJB just held the mic out to the stands and we sang the whole damn song. All three verses. I know we came to hear Mary, but she has a way of making you learn to grove to your own voice and the voices of all your sisters, too.
Ashe.

Dang, I would have like to have been there, but I have shunned going to a Mary concert, every since waaaay back in "What's the 411?" days, when folks I knew who went to her concerts said she sounded terrible live... Now you make me want to go, you groupie!
But Tayari, don't you just LOVE it when every one in the place knows EVERY word to the songs? I went to the Essence Festival while living in New Orleans a few years ago, and attended a Frankie Beverly and Maze concert... Everyone knew EVERY word to every song, and we all sang it while doing the electric slide. Now I'm not their biggest fan, but I ran out and got their anthology shortly thereafter... I will never forget that night!
Glad you had a great time... Who is next sanger/group on the list for you to run up on, you groupie!!???
LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:)
