but not money, here is an opportunity for you: Anita Diggs, Senior Editor at Thunder's Mouth Press is looking for an intern. This postion, though unpaid, provides some really hands-on experience. The intern will work with Ms. Diggs a few days a week for at least the next six months.
The person must:
1. be reliable
2. be patient
3. have a can-do attitude
4. have a strong interest in: biography, women's issues, pop culture,
African-American culture and Hip-Hop
5. have a strong proficiency in: Microsoft Word
6. have a basic knowledge of: Excel
7. be able to write
8. be able to work well under pressure
Duties will include:
- Reading fiction and nonfiction submissions and writing reports about them
- Writing jacket, galley and catalog copy
- Writing rejection letters
- Researching projects online
- Reading assigned magazines and coming up with book ideas
- Xeroxing, Filing, Sending Faxes, Collating, Running Errands
