2006 Caketrain Chapbook Competition

$250 & 25 Copies of Winning Chapbook
A limited-edition publication -- sixty-pound, acid free text stock
perfect-bound by a glossy, full-color cover, in the style of our previous
chapbook, Elizabeth Skurnick's Check-In.


Final Judge: Denise Duhamel

Denise Duhamel's most recent poetry titles are Two and Two (University of Pittsburgh Press, 2005), Mille et un Sentiments (Firewheel, 2005), and Queen for a Day: Selected and New Poems (Pittsburgh, 2001). She is an associate professor who teaches poetry at Florida International University in Miami.


This competition is open to manuscripts written in the English language.
Entries must be postmarked March 1, 2006 through September 1, 2006.
Guidelines:
(1) Please submit between 20 and 30 pages of poetry.
(2) Include page numbers, table of contents, and, if necessary, an acknowledgments page.
(3) Submit two cover pages: one with only the manuscript's title, the other with the title, your name, address, telephone number and e-mail address. Please do not include your name anywhere else on the manuscript.
(4) Do not send an original manuscript copy, please retain a copy for your records.
(5) Please do not send cover artwork or photographs with your submission.

Submission requirements:
(1) A reading fee of $20 must accompany each
submission, made payable to Caketrain Journal and Press.
(2) You may includea self-addressed postcard so that we may notify you upon receipt of submission.
(3) Please send all submissions through the United States Postal
Service.
(4) Please notify Caketrain if your manuscript is accepted
elsewhere.
5) The chapbook submission as a whole must be an unpublished
work. Poems within the manuscript that have been previously published areacceptable with proper acknowledgement.
6) Please do not submit translations or previously self-published works.
(7) Do not submit manuscripts by e-mail; all will be deleted.
(8) Caketrain staff are not
eligible for competition.

Winner Notification:
(1) Please enclose a SASE for winner notification.
(2) Please do not call or e-mail Caketrain for notification.
(3) A list of finalists and winner will be published on the
Caketrain website (www.caketrain.org).
(4) Do not enclose a SASE for return of manuscript; all manuscripts will be recycled at competition conclusion.
