Today is the first day of the Lunar New Year. It's a good time to start yourself over-- commit to doing your life right. It's the first night of the first moon-cycle of 2007. January 1, is the start of the solar new year. That's all well and good, but everyone knows that the moon is a special friend to artists.
Take a deep breath and renew yourself! 2007 is the Year of the Boar. It's a time of abundance, but don't be so-- well-- pig-headed that you can't gather up your blessings!

Happy Lunar New Year to you, too, Tayari! I wanted to pop and to say that I finished Leaving Atlanta last night. What a bummer it was to turn that last page and be done with Octavia's story. That girl really grabbed me (well, the whole book did, but there was something special about Octavia). You pulled off such a lovely balance of voices throughout the novel, all of which rang so true and crystal-clear. And Mrs. Grier's story! There's a novel I'd love to read, should you ever decide to write it - sort of reminiscent of parts of both Beloved and Kindred in tone. Just gorgeous. Anyway, you have yet another fan here. The Untelling is on my To Read list now. :-)
Blessings,
Nicole
