Tayari's Blog: REJECTION SECTION

Here's a kooky website that posts real-life rejection letters. Don't ask me why it cracked me up so much. One day, I'll share the rejections on my hard drive. Let me assure you that they are not pretty... And, for a more sober view, my agent, the fabulous Jane Dystel, tells why she chooses some projects and rejects others.

(thx ed for the rejection link)

oh my. i really should not have followed that linkydink. on the last few days of clean up before sending out my ms, reading the letters [which i felt some strange masochistic compulsion to do] was a bit like watching horror films on a dark night, in the middle of the woods with three blonds in pajamas... . every creak i hear in the floorboards is an editor with an ax [chainsaw, or maybe an alien editor with fangs, i hear this is not so uncommon nowadays] saying how 'worthy' the project is, but 'no thanks'.
i wonder how many affirmations i will have to do to erase those images. yes, let's return to that-- affirming that every project will finds its divine place, and that universal intelligence links all our stories together, making instant connection with the right agents/editors/reviewers/marketers/readers available to us. hey, i feel better already. i can go back to ruthlessly re-structuring chapter 7 now.
