Lyrae is a gorgeous is poet and Open Interval is a beautiful book. I know it is an honor just to be nominated or the National Book Award, but I was really hoping that she would take it home.

Well, since I've had the pleasure of having dinner with Lyrae (and like seven thousand other poets) and can't afford to buy the book, I'd love to be entered. She's cool company, and I read a decent amount of the book in a book store, have it on my list, and you know - free books make the world go round.

TJ...As always, thanks for the updates and thanks for entering me. I want to explore the Open Interval...the cover is lovely, as are Lyrae's poems in the Fish House.
Stay happy...TJ because I can't wait to see Silver Girl on one of those fabulous table settings. Enjoy Thanksgiving and some red velvet cake with seven up, family and friends.

Oh, I can't pass up an opportunity to have more poetry on my shelf.
I am a fan of her poem, "Fountain," as it merges personal history with the broader history of many in a poem. I love that technique/approach to poetry. I watched a video in which she talks about ]Open Interval[, saying it has a lot of astronomy and math. Then I read one of the bop poems from it ("The North Star") and saw that it also taps into history and personal experience in the way I love. (It also has the wonderful use of dashes and 'empty' space I liked in "Fountain.") Maybe she can open a space for me to enjoy astronomy and math!
Like dwayne, I always want books, but I can't always afford them :-) Thanks for hosting this giveaway.

Tracking down the poem that toriemichelle mentioned, "Fountain" (an excellent poem), I ran into Lyrae Van Clief-Stefanon's poem "Dinah". Wow! That is a powerful, powerful poem. (It helps if you are familiar with the Jacob-Leah-Rachel story in the Bible or have read the fictionalization of that story, "The Red Tent" by Anita Diamant).

I'm probably too late for the drawing, but please enter me if I'm not. What a great title, *Open Interval*.
